And you end up caught between its teeth anyway. The trap imagery in the final section tightens that idea further. You walk into it willingly, you get locked in by a single glance, and you're enchanted even as it's happening to you. The final repeated plea, "please give me poison," is where the song earns its emotional gut punch. After all the predator imagery, the speaker isn't asking to escape love. He's asking for more of it, even knowing it's toxic.
